FROM CARCASSONNE AIRPORT
- At airport they will make you exit at the rear of car rental park to a roundabout on main road Turn left towards Carcassonne and drive back past airport
- Follow road to first roundabout then turn left (3rd exit) following signs for Mazamet D 6113
- At large roundabout (4.7 kms), with Le Clerc store / petrol station on left, take 2 nd exit (just past straight ahead), following D 6113 to Mazamet
- Follow this road for just over 3 kilometres, over 1st roundabout, and at 2nd roundabout go left, taking 3rd exit, on D 149 still to Mazamet (8 kms)
- Over first roundabout with Intermarche store on left, staying on D149 to Mazamet
- After another kilometre arrive at roundabout, (9.5 kms)take first exit to the right D 620 to Villalier
- Follow road for further 1.3 kilometres (just under a mile) to a turn off to right, D 201 to Villedubert
- Follow road past Gites (Domaine st Pierre de Trapel) on right to village of Villedubert, (13.7 kms) about 3 kilometres (just under 2 miles)
- At the Marie (town hall), on the right, in centre of tiny village carry on for another 50 metres to where road bends sharply left towards Bouillhonnac and Trebes
- Go straight across corner, Ie don't follow main road, down lane called " chemin de Canastelle " also signed to the "Stade" (village football pitch) on D 801
- Follow lane for 1.7 kms (a mile) and as road rises slightly there is a small pine wood / copse on the right with rusty sign "Domaine de Cantalauze"
- Follow potholed lane (carefully) for about .7kms (half a mile) to arrive safely
- If you miss first entrance, a further .4 kms wil bring you to other entrance, very sharp right on a slight bend before road heads slowly downhil towards Trebes
TOTAL Distance from Airport about 15.7 kilometres or 10 miles, should take under 25 minutes if you don't get lost
Whether coming from the Toulouse direction or up from the coast at Narbonne it is quickest to take the Trebes/Carcassonne exit at junction 24, though getting through Trebes can be tricky first time, so there is the alternative of exiting at the first Carcassonne exit for those coming from Toulouse junction 25 (see 2nd option below)
FROM MOTORWAY / CARCASSONE (OUEST /TREBES) WEST TREBES J 24
- At exit take Trebes direction, not back towards Carcassonne
- The town of Trebes is about 2 miles further along, take centre filter left to get into centre of Trebes
- Go to the centre of trebes, keeping town hall (Marie) on your right
- Carry on up hill till road bends right and you are just about to cross the bridge, carefully cross traffic and go straight across the corner, down alongside the canal
- Follow road and then bear left at end of road til you reach a t junction
- At the t junction turn right down the hill, about 50 yds till you can turn left over tiny bridge over small river
- Carry on following road (single track) out into countryside amidst vines, the lane will bend right (don't go straight on down dirt track) and then up and over a lovely old bridge over the canal du midi
- The road goes slowly uphill for about 400yds or so, as it bears right at top of incline there is a small sign on the left with entrance to CANTALAUZE
- If you miss it, about 200yds further on, after a small olive plantation on left there is a 2nd entrance through pine copse on left
TOTAL Distance from Motorway exit about 7 kilometres or 5 miles, should take under 15 minutes if you don't get lost in Trebes
FROM MOTORWAY / CARCASSONE (OUEST) EAST J 25
- From Peage (Toll) - Carcassonne Ouest (West - airport) off Autoroute A61, at exit roundabout turn left (4th exit) onto D 6161 to Mazamet, Toulouse (Green lettering)
- Follow D 6161 signs to Mazamet, past airport, for about 5 miles (8 kilometres) from autorote exit
- At large roundabout, with Le Clerc store / petrol station on left, take 2 nd exit (just past straight ahead), following D 6113 to Mazamet
